Four established South African jazz band leaders take advantage of the unique NYJF collaboration vibe to play as a quartet for the first time. They’ve played together in various ensembles for decades and each is a composer and musician who has had a significant influence on the direction of modern South African jazz, so expect intuitive playing from supportive musicians exploring directions not normally available to them. This is South African jazz at its most creative.
