Mamelodi-born Gabi Motuba is a jazz vocalist, composer and educator at Wits University. Recognised for her emotionally powerful, concept-driven storytelling, Motuba’s music blends the avant-garde and experimental within the jazz art form. Gwen Ansell commented last year on Motuba’s latest release that ‘The sounds are beautiful. But composer/vocalist Gabisile Motuba’s ongoing project…is more than beautiful sounds. It’s a powerful work of sonic theology, expounded through music.’
‘To Know the Other’ is a new collaboration of musicians coming together for the first time to engage in dialogue through sound.
