About the Artists

Yakha Mlali is a versatile artist, serving as artistic director, recording artist, writer, music composer, choreographer, singer, dancer, and actor, and he is the founder of Siba Lam Arts Organization. He gained recognition with his debut music release "Ndikuthanda Umlibe" in 2020, catching the attention of radio stations like Kumkani FM and esteemed artists such as Dumza Maswana and Ntsika Ngxanga (The Soil); showcasing his talent as an opening act at Maswana's extravaganza "Celebrating African Songs" at the Guild Theatre. His notable song "Gogo Opheth'iyeza" gained popularity on platforms like Facebook and TikTok.

Yakha's journey continued as he joined Sonwa Sakuba Institute for the Performing Arts, majoring in music. He further showcased his vocal prowess as a soloist in the "Afrika Sings" musical, earning recognition and awards like the Bronze Standard Bank Ovation Award in 2022 for his exceptional performances.

Yakha's accomplishments extend to earning a distinction in Jazz and Bronze ISTD for dance at Sonwa Sakuba Institute and contributing as a music composer for the Abangoni dance production at the Udaba Dance Festival. In 2023, he penned his first production, "Iingoma Zomngqungo On A Road With Yakha Mlali," delivering a spiritual awakening of body, mind, and soul through his original songs. The production garnered critical acclaim at the Umtiza Arts Festival and National Arts Festival, receiving a Standard Bank Ovation Award in 2023. Yakha's collaborations and releases, including his single "Ngawam (Amabillion)" in the Afro House genre, continue to resonate with audiences, earning accolades and affirmations as a rising star in the industry.
