THE EVIL BOOTS WORN FOR VICTORY
University of Venda
Theatre / City Hall

In the cursed history of Thathe village, drought, war, crime, and massacre had become a way of life. An old lady told of a pair of evil boots that kept the land in misery. The curse could only be broken when a pure, virgin girl with a special gift entered the dark cave wearing those boots. A young girl, untouched by impurity and possessing a rare talent, stepped forward despite fear.

In the cave, darkness wrapped around her like a thick blanket. She lay asleep for days, dreaming of terrible pictures and fighting invisible enemies. Each time she woke, a strange power grew inside her. Finally, a strong, clear light filled her. She picked up the black boots, buzzing with dark feeling, and put them on. The boots stuck to her feet, turning dark power into a bright, rushing something that burst through the cave, sealing curses.

This brings rain to the dry land, ending war, and silencing cries of pain. The girl walked out, boots still on, and the village began to heal. Crops grew, peace returned. Her bravery became a hope for everyone.
