At only 17 years old, Jaryd Pillay took a gamble when hitting the stage for the first time and he hasn’t looked back ever since. From performing at Rocking The Daisies on multiple occasions or for the Comedy Mixtape recently broadcasted on SACB2, to consistently grinding his performing skills all over the country, Jaryd Pillay has climbed his way up to the top of the comedic scene.

Using his Live Performance BA degree, he narrates with an engaging stage presence the tales of a millennial navigating his identity crisis, and brings to life with authenticity the characters that challenged his existence.

His debut one man show “Life of Pillay” allowed him to catch the eye of the critics at the Arts Festival in 2018.

In his latest compelling and hilarious hour special “Passion of the Curry”, Jaryd Pillay explores with a great sense of comedic timing, the avenues of cultural displacement like when he realised that as a proud Indian descendent he shouldn’t be eating curry with a fork and knife, his redemption toward the sins he committed as a teenager and those Facebook memories that we wish we didn’t recall…

“Passion of The Curry” toured The National Arts Festival in 2022 and 2023, with a great response and standing ovations from Festival goers as well as a thunderous response and a standing ovation from shows his home town Cape Town and a short run in Johannesburg.
