Please, I Promise explores themes of trauma and addiction and how it affects the family dynamic, specifically between siblings. It also takes a look at how mental health struggles affect individuals and communities, as well as how these effects are unequally distributed across previously disadvantaged communities due to lack of access to quality mental health care. The story follows a young man living with addiction and mental illness, which lead him to a life on the street. Here he commits crimes, makes promises, breaks promises and takes multiple steps back soon after taking steps forward towards recovery. This piece is for everyone; indeed it deals with the idea that any person can find themselves in this situation at some point in their lives.
