Theatre / Rehearsal Room

Ramayana is a contemporary South African reimagining of the ancient Indian epic, blending classical storytelling with modern physical theatre, dance theatre, stage combat and narrative.

This production follows Ram’s journey through exile and destiny, reframed in a visually dynamic world inspired by combat video games, Bollywood dances and South African youth culture. Through stylised combat, poetic narration, and a diverse ensemble, the piece explores themes of power and reconciliation while making a traditional story accessible and relevant to new audiences.
