About the Artists

Mihle Helebe (Spinza): an award-winning performing artist and film production student at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), recognised as Performing Artist of the Year 2025 at the CPUT Sports, Arts and Culture Awards. With a strong foundation in acting, writing, and directing, Mihle is a passionate storyteller dedicated to creating meaningful, character-driven narratives for both stage and screen.

His body of work includes leading performances such as Spinza in These Are Heavy on Us, as well as writing and directing The Voice of Freedom, in which he also portrayed the character Tebello. Mihle’s artistic journey began at a young age as a member of the renowned Isango Ensemble Theatre Group, where he developed his performance skills and deep appreciation for collaborative storytelling.

Driven by a commitment to authentic South African narratives, Mihle continues to expand his creative voice through film and performance. He aspires to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Film Production and ultimately create impactful work that resonates with diverse audiences and contributes meaningfully to the local and global creative industry.

Likho Soga (Theo): I’m Likho Soga, a Cape Town stage actor committed to telling stories that sit in the weight of real life. I’m drawn to roles that deal with memory, identity and what people carry in silence, and I approach them through grounded, physical work. Right now I’m on stage as Wandile Theo Booi in These Are Heavy On Us, following recent performances as Quinton Anele Grootboom in Beyond the Tide and Gomora in I’m One of You, plus the closing monologue in Trapped. Theatre is where I’ve trained and built my craft under Mzamo Sweli and Luyolo Makrwede, and through workshops with Xabiso Zweni at Masifunde Learner Development. I’m also looking to carry that same honesty into film and television as I grow.

Komogelo Maebela (Itumeleng): Kamogelo “Dowry“ Maebela is an emerging theatre actress trained at the East Rand School of Arts. She is drawn to self-driven, raw charecters rooted in township politics, and enjoys exploring themes of family, identity and economic reality through grounded performances. Kamogelo is currently perfoming as Nomaphelo in These Are Heavy on Us, and previously served as a stage manager in Beyond The Tide. She brings authenticity and lived experience to every role.

Karabo Morajane (Phozisa): I am Karabo Morajane, a stage actor based in Cape Town. I am focused on realism and character-driven theatre, rooted in emotionally honest storytelling. I explore raw, lived experience narratives that deal with identity, struggle, and human behaviour through silence, conflict, and vulnerability. I trained through a 6-week acting programme facilitated by Thami Mbongo and studied Dramatic Arts in high school, where I developed foundational stage performance and vocal expression skills. I am currently cast in These Are Heavy On Us, directed by NT Jikwa. I continue to develop my craft through performance that prioritises truth, presence, and emotional depth.
