Even Your Footprints Walked Away
Jacques Batista
Film

To remember, first, impress upon the files of the mind the actors and their actions that play out in the theatre of one's life. Thereafter, one can retrieve experience as a reproduction, a restaging, a revival, or simply a remembering. Sometimes, the files of the mind are misplaced; they succumb to weather conditions and the wear and tear of life. Therefore, the protagonist of this story embeds his 'rememberings' of those who affect his life by capturing their footprints in cement before it dries. Exposing the alchemy of cement and water to air hardens the materials, like the heart, sometimes, when reviving the files of the mind. It is something visceral onto which experience can be impressed, something that remains of the day. However, some footprints cannot stay; footprints that seem to walk away, escape the hardness by never going out into the open air.
