About the Artists
EBMQ was established in the year 2000, in the city of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa under the legendary gospel artist Lusanda Mcinga. In 2005, EBMQ recorded their debut album titled ‘Likhon’isango’ under Gallo Record. At the end of 2014, the dynamic group recorded their 5th album titled ‘Unabantu Bantu Bakho Thixo’, which was released later at the beginning of the year 2016. The album features legendary gospel artist Lusanda Mcinga and SABC Crown Gospel Award Best New Commer and Best Gospel Song 2014 winner Betusile Mcinga.
In 2020 during the worldly pandemic, EBMQ released an album titled ‘Ndilandeleni’ not just for entertainment purposes but also as a beacon of Hope as the whole world was in shambles and hopelessness filled the air. The album featured Mxolisi Mhlongo as a producer and Malizole Fololo.
Huge strides were made in 2023 as the talented group released a single named ‘Siqonda Ekhaya’ and shot a music video for the single. The group performed in many churches and events, was nominated for the INGOMA Awards and performed on National TV (One Gospel). At the end of 2023, Impi Ka Moya was released on YouTube. EBMQ has been and continues to share stages with legends in the music industry.
In 2024, the renowed ‘Agrootman endumiso’ have released their finest work, an album titled Revival Hits. With the song Josefa being the outstanding one according to the fans and listeners of their music. This has influenced the #Josefatotheworld, making the group to work very hard in ensuring that Josefa indeed goes to the world.
The future is beyond exciting for the group as plans to take their music beyond Eastern Cape and the whole of South Africa are underway. With the hard work being done behind the scenes by their manager, Pinky Pohlo, the Public Relations manager Lavel’ikhwexi Xintolo with the assistance of Royale Media and Communications, it is guaranteed that in no time, the world will know of Josefa and South Africa at large will know of EBMQ.
Kouga Jazz Band is a unique and diverse musical ensemble whose sound flows from the roots of church music to the rich cultural and indigenous musical traditions of the Eastern Cape.
Their early musical influences are deeply rooted in jazz, spiritual, gospel, and indigenous Xhosa music. They create a distinctive blend that celebrates both heritage and artistic innovation.
The band was formed by Xolani Faku and Daniel Hutchinson with a commitment to present, preserve, and promote the music and cultural identity of the Eastern Cape region.
In 2007, Kouga Jazz Band received a recognition award from the Eastern Cape Department of Arts and Culture for their outstanding contribution to jazz and cultural music.
Their contribution to the 2010 ECAVC Jazz Release further established them as custodians of the region's rich musical heritage.
Today, Kouga Jazz Band is led by Xolani Faku, who composes the music and directs the ensemble with passion, energy, and unwavering commitment.
