Beneath The Soil is a gripping physical theatre production that brings movement, music, and raw storytelling together in a hauntingly beautiful ritual of remembrance. Set in a mystical graveyard, the piece follows the spirits of four young women—Lerato, Naledi, Thandi, and Zandile—who rise from the soil to reclaim the stories stolen from them through gender-based violence.
Guided by the ancient and poetic voice of The Grave, their bodies become instruments of memory as they move through fragments of their final moments. With live percussion, powerful vocal harmonies, and striking physical choreography, the production creates an immersive world where silence breaks, truth emerges, and healing begins.
Beneath The Soil is emotional, atmospheric, and deeply human—a theatrical experience that confronts pain while honouring resilience. It invites audiences to witness, to feel, and to remember.
