The Black Power Station

The Collaboration Day reminds us that these 11 days are not only about performance and presentation, but also about shared experiences, creative exchange, and the beginning of new artistic relationships. It becomes a moment where artists move beyond competition to connect, exchange ideas, and imagine future projects together.

Through this spirit, new collaborations, creative movements, and long-term artistic relationships are born between artists, audiences, and the community of art.

This space carries the energy of poetry in motion  a reminder that art is not just art for art’s sake, but art as proof of life, proof of presence, and proof of human connection.

“The Performance of Life"

"The Proof music of Life Live.”

For the first time, the daytime performance experience invites audiences to travel early, gather in community, and experience the good vibes, music, creativity, and atmosphere of The Black Power Station.

As part of this special gathering, we also give love and honour to Mam’ uMakhulu wethu uMadosini for her lifelong contribution to African music, culture, and storytelling. We also celebrate our sister Maria McCloy for the powerful energy and vision she contributed to the image of the creative industries of South Africa and Africa as a whole. Rest in peace sister.

Beginning from 2:30pm, the day opens with a special ticketed picnic-style live performance outside The Black Power Station, where The Muffinz will fill the afternoon with music and energy, followed by an exciting lineup of hip hop performances, poetry experiments, sound selections, and creative encounters that will carry the spirit of the festival until the stars shine through the night.

Join us on the final evening of The National Arts Festival at The Black Power Station
