The Black Power Station | Exiles in Exodus
The Black Power Station
Poetry & Spoken Word / The Black Power Station

With modern lyric and narrative poetry suspended in meticulous imagery, Fakade stands as one of the most compelling young poetic voices emerging from the Eastern Cape. Influenced deeply by Hip Hop culture, jazz, political consciousness, spirituality, and the oral traditions of African storytelling, Fakade brings a rare intensity to the stage a towering presence with a deep commanding voice, sharp intellect, and the spirit of a provocateur hidden inside the elegance of a smooth operator.

Known among audiences as a powerful debater, intellectual poet, and fearless wordsmith behind the microphone, his work moves between political commentary, existential reflection, traditional spirituality, and the lived realities of young Black South Africans. His delivery is emphatic, cinematic, and emotionally charged every line carrying the rhythm of both poetry and lyrical activism.

Now, with Exiles in Exodus, Fakade invites audiences into a powerful poetic journey a meditation on displacement, identity, belonging, memory, and spiritual migration. The title itself reflects the complexity of a young man thinking beyond borders while carrying the weight and beauty of where he comes from. Exiles in Exodus explores building a new identity, a complex of truth in remembrance and fallacy in history.

Featuring the masterful Oyisa Katshaza on piano and keyboards, the performance blends spoken word, rhythm, jazz textures, and lyrical storytelling into an unforgettable live experience.

Come witness the journey of a poet, lyricist, orator, and cultural voice in motion.

About the Artists

Born in Queenstown in 2001 and raised in Dordrecht, Fakade comes from a province known as The Home of Legends a land shaped by poets, political activists, revolutionaries, intellectuals, and deeply rooted religious and traditional communities. These influences echo throughout his writing and performance style, making his work feel both deeply personal and historically connected.

His first poetry collection, Tied To The Transkei, was released and performed at The Black Power Station in 2022, alongside his thought-provoking oration Hip Hop is Anarchic, which positioned him as a bold young thinker unafraid to challenge systems through language and performance.
