Echoes of a Century
Prestige School of Dance
Dance & Physical Theatre / PJ'S

A captivating dance production that takes you on a journey through the evolution of South African music from 1950 to 2005. From the vibrant rhythms of kwela, the powerful anthems of freedom songs, the catchy vibes of bubblegum, and the uplifting beats of post-Apartheid optimism!

“Echoes of a Century” is more than a dance production; it’s a poignant reflection of our historical and cultural landscape. It recognises the power of music as a force for change, unity, and celebration in the face of adversity.

As we commemorate 30 years of freedom in South Africa, “Echoes of a Century” celebrates the tapestry of our country’s historical and cultural landscape and pays homage to South African artists and communities.

Join us as we tell the tale of our century-long story through music and dance, featuring the timeless songs of Hugh Masekela, Spokes Mashiyane, Miriam Makeba, Mango Groove, and Brenda Fassie!
