2380 Tenth Year Anniversary celebrates Sabelo Soko's debut project realeased in 2014. The poems included on the 10 track album are used as a mirror to reflect on what the poet has learned as an artist and as an independent record label owner.
Artists who collaborated on the album also recount their experiences working on the album and the lessons they learnt from the process. Over the last decade Sabelo Soko has released 3 studio albums 2 books and a slew of creative work including short films and a stage play. It all started with 2380.
The project 2380 was produced by Maraza (except the intro which was produced by Cristyle Peter) and features IamStann, Emtee and poet vangile gantsho.
About the Artists
Sabelo Soko has been a writer, perfomer and creator of experiences from an early age. Soko spent his 20’s swaying between corporate South Africa and the arts to make ends meet. He has sold short term insurance, cellphone contracts and vacuum cleaners.
In 2013 Sabelo Soko registered SabzHero Creations and released his first studio project the following year. To date, his catalogue consists of short films, theatre shows, art installations, studio records, curriculum development, advertising campaigns, call centre scripts and other exciting products that require words and imagination to come alive.
Soko has worked with brands like the King James Group, Sibikwa Arts Center, Sanlam, Tyme Bank and Nando's through Constitution Hill. He recently founded Heroes Creative Joint - a community arts centre with a diligent focus on the creative before the product or the brand. Soko is passionate about original stories and the art of preserving them for cultural, educational and historical reference.
