Imagine, if you will, that it is a time of Kings and Queens and prodigious battles of grandeur- in the Victorian era. Dream even further, if it pleases, that it is these times, in this one (the 21st century) in South Africa’s ghetto residential locale. Two Lords are at the height of an epic war, with each other. To surpass all clichés, their duel is for what else, but, the hand of a maiden- the fair lady, Princess Squeeza. Lord Guluva of Extension 8, and, Lord McLova of Zone 9 are scheduled to be in a bout to the death, and the victor marries her. May the best of the Lords win. On this day, they clash…

Sydney Ndhlovu

Sydney Ndhlovu is a highly creative and versatile individual with a passion for the arts. With experience in writing, directing, and acting, he brings a unique perspective and a wide range of skills to any project.

As an actor, Sydney has a natural ability to connect with his audience and bring characters to life authentically and compellingly. He has performed in a variety of productions, from classic plays to modern works including award-winning productions (Eclipsed directed by Sylvaine Strike, and No Easter Sunday For Queers directed by Mwenya Kabwe), and has featured in several television shows. Syd is highly skilled at adapting to different roles and styles and is a highly motivated and passionate individual who brings a wealth of experience and creativity to any project.

Tshepo Matlala

Tshepo Matlala was born and bred in the streets of Tembisa (East Rand), He is a recent graduate of the Market Theatre Laboratory. He is a Theatre Maker, Actor, Writer, Director, and Comedian who has skills in Clowning, Miming, and Physical Comedy. Tshepo is a funny guy who enjoys comedy and clowning, and his approach to work always comes from the spirit of playfulness. He believes that the world is way too beautiful to be serious all the time and that to make magic transpires from learning the mastery of balancing tragedy with comedy. Highlights from his work experience include; directing Blink - a digital performance by the Market Laboratory 2nd year students.

He stage-managed “Kak” a Market Theatre Laboratory’s first-year production directed by Josias Moleele, “Little Fist Big Heart” a Kwasha drama Company production written by Lereko Mfono directed by Wynne O’Brien, “The drowing Eye” a Kwasha drama company production directed by Tamara Guhrs, “ The kids from Amandla Street” a Kwasha drama Company’s production written by Lereko Mfono directed by Sibahle Mangena and “Sifu: The cage” a Zwakala Festival winner 2021 Production directed by Lihle Nene which had a season at The Market Theatre in 2022.

He is part of the Naledi Theatre Awards-winning ensemble productions; No Easter Sunday For Queers directed by Mwenya Kabwe and Eclipsed directed by Sylvaine Strike in collaboration with Phumlani Mndebele and Gina Shmukler and was also featured on Mzansi Awards directed by Jefferson Tshabalala. Subsequently to his graduation from the Market Lab, he landed the role of ‘Mashobane’ in Mzansi Magic’s feature film – Manong, a lead role as "Toffolux” in Mzansi Magic’s Feature film – Skanda Love, and a supporting role as ‘Richmond’ in Mzansi Magic’s Feature Film produced by LeburugraphyPictures and has left many audiences in awe of his brilliant performance.
