Rob Van Vuuren - Writer & Performer

Rob van Vuuren is a highly acclaimed South African actor, comedian, director, writer, and voice-over artist. His career has taken him to stages worldwide, captivating audiences in Perth, London, Brighton, Amsterdam, Dubai, Brighton, and Edinburgh. His accolades include four Standard Bank Ovation Awards for comedy, numerous nominations for the prestigious Fleur de Cap Theatre Awards, Fleur de Cap and Woordtrofees for Best Actor, and the Breakthrough Act Award at the Comics Choice Awards. He has filmed two Comedy Central Africa specials, and was a finalist in the You Spectacular Awards in the Category SA’s Favorite Comedian. His latest character, wellness guru NamasteBae, became an international viral sensation with his self-help, herbal-healing videos. His healing ceremony show, Blessings and Kombucha, has seen wild success, with sold out shows across South Africa and London.

His other satirical character, Twakkie, starred in the cult comedy sensation "The Most Amazing Show", which went from a weekly stage show to TV series. As a screen actor his recent credits include, a critically acclaimed performance on Netflix global top 10 series Ludik, a celebrated portrayal as  Russ Thorn in a remake of 80’s cult classic, Slumber Party Massacre.

He can currently be seen in the indie trans-comedy Runs in the Family is premiering at Inside Out Festival in Toronto and will be dropping on Netflix sometime in the near future. Other soon to be released projects include; Umbrella Men 2, Devil’s Peak, The Trek, Jungle Beat 2 and Trippy Tours.

Louw Venter - Director

Louw Venter is a celebrated director, screenwriter and performer in South Africa due to the cult avant-garde comedy TV series The Most Amazing Show (starring Corne and Twakkie) which he directed, performed in and co-created with Rob Van Vuuren, and proved pivotal to the emergence of the Zef counter-culture movement in South Africa. After starting off at Gitam BBDO as a copywriter, Louw has focused on longer form writing and directing for the last 20 years. His first solo project in television was Rugby Motors, a groundbreaking Afrikaans mocumentary series about working class Cape Tonians, which he created and wrote. In 2014 he wrote and appeared as the lead character in the feature Konfetti, a multiple international award-winning feature film based on his own hit play the Best Man’s Speech. He’s the recipient of numerous awards and nominations including Safta’s and Silwerskerm awards. He was selected to participate in L’Attelier at the Festival de Cannes in 2015 with the screenplay for his directorial feature debut, The Tree/STAM, which is produced by the cutting edge URUCU MEDIA. The Tree/STAM is distributed in Europe by PLUTO film and locally by Indigenous Film. STAM won BEST SOUTH AFRICAN feature at DIFF in 2020 and received 7 SAFTA nominations and one win.

Louw is a ground-up filmmaker who prides himself on the ability to take projects from inception through development and production all the way to polished post-production. His long history in film and television as well as cutting edge comedy make him a specialist in performance.
