Anam Manyati is a versatile, raw, and culturally rooted artist. At the core lies the composer, Anam Manyati, one of the most productive talents to emerge from South Africa in recent times.
Manyati's voice is an open torrent of sounds and rhythms, proudly embodying the DNA of their continent. Electronic sounds influenced by various elements, including indigenous instruments, violin, bass, guitar, and drums, accompany the performance.
Primavera Sound Newsletter 2018 praised Manyati. Upon her establishment in 2016, Anam was handpicked by IMEXSA, Independent Music Exporters South Africa, to perform, network, and attend business conferences specifically at Primavera and Midem in France that year. In 2018, Primavera specifically requested their return to Barcelona to perform again.
December 2018 saw Anam win the Afro Punk Battle of the Bands competition. This victory secured them a spot on the main stage at the APF in Johannesburg, alongside international artists like Thundercat, The Internet, and Flying Lotus.
Anam Manyati has collaborated with BlackBrain Motion Pictures. Their unique sound featured as soundtracks to internationally acclaimed projects. "Loving Thokoza," a movie screened on South Africa's DSTV Showmax, featured their music.
South African National Television channel Dstv 1Magic & Mzansi Magic's hit drama series, LOCKDOWN, also included music from Anam Manyati. "Ting Ting," one of Ikati Esengxoweni's tracks, served as a soundtrack within the prison setting of the show.
