Zoe the Seed
Jazz / DSG Hall

Zoe the Seed, originally from Eswatini, articulates and celebrates a 16-year relationship with the city of Durban - and its music community that has consistently supported her creativity - in her first performance in Makhanda, providing a platform for her to present her own stories. ‘My presentation’ she promises, ‘will be a reflection of my gratitude to that community.’

Storytelling has given Zoe the platform for an authentic, sincere expression of jazz that embraces the concept of guidance, community and the experiences of the ones who came before us. She believes that despite living in a connected world, we tend to miss out on the simple world view which taps into the spirit of Ubuntu. Her bandstand consists of musicians who have not only articulated but also contributed to the repertoire to present a previously unheard body of work to audiences in Makhanda.
