Maritzburg College’s Jazz Ensemble was formed several years ago by talented schoolboys driven by a passion for jazz. The ensemble performs a variety of jazz standards and is a regular feature at local concerts. Parel Vallei’s Matric Band reflects a school that has been a regular supporter of the National Youth Jazz Festival for decades, entertaining in styles with everything from Glen Miller to a New York subway-style street band.
