Pianist, composer and educator Neil Gonsalves has a deep connection with and love for township music and dance, which provokes childhood memories of vibrant sounds and images. In the kaleidoscope of sound and musical influence that is the Durban music scene, he manipulates the vitality and dynamism of township music and Mbaqanga into his own journey of musical performance and composition. The result is a discography that is decidedly Mzansi-flavoured.
Guests Thabo Sikhakhane and Zoe the Seed bring their own distinctive sounds and musical influence to a set that largely features tunes from the original trio’s ‘Blessings and Blues’ album, alongside music from their new live EP, which features Thabo.
