Ramon Alexander Trio
Jazz / DSG Hall

An eclectic pianist, composer and academic, Ramon Alexander is a qualified wine-maker from the rural Boland village of Mamre who has solidified his serious jazz credentials. Having played with most of his local heroes such as Mac McKenzie, Jobbie Jansen, Errol Dyers and Leslie Kleinsmith, he has forged his own path within the Cape Jazz genre. He has performed at numerous venues and festivals around the world, most notably Europe and Asia, and is now a senior lecturer in Jazz at Stellenbosch University.

His music has been described as a breath of fresh air, and the musical journey he creates for audience is a landscape of rhythmic interplay that showcases his legacy and heritage with the influences of Moravian hymns and the surviving legacy of Khoisan music.
