Stirling High’s Jazz Band was formed by Alan Webster in 1992 and has performed in 25 towns around the country, with over 80 students selected to the national band over the years. The band has also toured internationally to Zimbabwe, Namibia, Holland, Germany and Britain, and is proud of the number of past members who are still active in South African jazz. The repertoire consists mainly of interesting arrangements of classic charts in a standard big band format. A smaller combo within the band, led by Kyle du Preez, also explores hip modern jazz tunes and South African standards.
