Umhlaba
The Black Power Station

UMHLABA is a quest and unique imaginative project inspired by Dr. N. Tisani's Umhlaba: The Life of the Landless. The work utilises music and a series of events to distort South Africa's diverse land grievances by examining the realities of the community of Kwandancama in Makhandama. Masixole Heshu, the 2023 Isakho Fellowship Winner and winner of the Standard Bank Ovation Award, explores meaning at a time of despair.
