Imbali yakwa Tyefu
Theatre / St Andrew's Hall

Imbali yakwa Tyefu is a theatre production informed by social research by community members of Ngqushwa east of the Great Fish River.

These community members spent months interviewing elders from the Land of Kwa Tyefu, tyefu translating to poison. This name came about after the British conquest of amaXhosa and their deliberate poisoning of water wells in the land to deter natives settling. This resulted in the land being called No Man’s Land.
