Named
Dirkje Daling

Dirkje Daling performs some of her compositions while projecting painting equivalents on the backdrop. These are explorations of the interplay between colour and musical notes. She talks a little bit about scientific and spiritual concepts like time versus timelessness and being truly Named, challenging the audience to revisit perceptions regarding hardship in life and where it takes us if we allow it.

About the Artists

Dirkje Daling uses the neurological condition called chromosthesia in which sounds invoke images of colour, to compose music through what she paints. She was born in 1975, and lives and works in Nieu-Bethesda, South Africa. She works mostly with oils on canvas and uses abstract patterns to portray the music that will flow from the painting sometimes incorporating symbolism that are then incorporated into the music by sound, pattern or mood.

She has been part of numerous group exhibitions and is the owner of Infinity Gallery, Nieu-Bethesda where she has been exhibiting since 2014. Her music can be found on all major music platforms and the official music videos can be seen on YouTube. The sheet music can be found at www.dirkjedaling.com.

"I would like people to join me on this exciting journey and sincerely hope they enjoy the art and music nearly as much as I did composing it.”
