Sally Burkett is in disgrace! Suspended from Littleman Junior School amidst a scandal. Sally thought that she, of all people, should be immune to scandals, after all she has been teaching for nigh on thirty years! But the ‘much loved’ Ms Burkett rocked the small school to the core, and now she sits in limbo awaiting her fate. She has worked hard to navigate changing policies and new age parents.  What could she possibly have done to send her into this purgatory?   Does she have what it takes to recover from this? Join Sally as she ponders her fate and unpacks what brought her to the particular hell of teaching zoom online!

About the Artists

Sue Diepeveen | Writer/Actor

Sue Diepeveen is a Cape Town based film, television and theatre actress whose solo show  “So You Want To Be A Trophy Wife?” toured nationally. Other theatre projects include Vday performance of The Vagina Monologues (2018/19 – Sugar-daddy Productions); Mrs. Du Bois in Curl Up and Dye (NAF); Dario Fo’s A Woman Alone directed by Margot Wood of Anex Theatre and Mike Van Graan's Two To Tango, with Paul Du Toit; directed by Ira Blanckenberg.   

 

Sue wrote and directed The Emperor's New Clothes with Henu Baden and Jessie Diepeveen which had a sucessful run at NAF '24 . She won an two Ovation Awards at The National Arts Festival (2019/2020) for Your Perfect Life produced by F Creations. In addition to directing Thirst for the Cape Town Fringe (2016) under the Sugar-Daddy Production house, she has directed the acclaimed Blueberry Toast (2018) which completed three successful Cape Town runs. As a writer she has written five plays for large casts for children, performance poetry and her solo show.  

 

Natasha Sutherland | Director

No stranger to SA theatre landscape Natasha Sutherland started her career in the early 1990s as a presenter of the children show Kideo. Then she acted in Egoli: The Place of Gold during her teen age in 1991. In 1996, she started her acting career with the two television serials: Honeytown and Tarzan: The Epic AdventuresAfter the success of those serials, she acted in the home movie Operational Delta in 1997. Meanwhile, she started to dominate the South Africa theater with several popular stage plays such as Gigi in 1992 and The Revlon Girl. In the meantime, she also directed music videos and worked as an editor of Finesse Magazine.

 

Apart from acting, Sutherland is also a public motivational speaker who has travelled across the country as well as to international stages. She is also appointed as the brand ambassador for the South African Beauty brand 'Placecol' and 'DNB'. She is a prolific author, staring with her first book Bittersweet. With her success as an author, she later wrote the books: Green and Blue in 2010 (her first children's book), Fairytale and Sprokie.
