The story "THOZIBO" (The Old Zimbabwean Boarder) by Leonard Sbusiso Themba is a dramatic and surreal story about two cousins, Knowledge and Wisdom, who steal a large sum of money hidden under the president's bed and attempt to escape to Zimbabwe.
The script unfolds as they journey through a dark and unending wilderness, filled with tension, existential revelations, and an eerie atmosphere. As they struggle to reach their destination, the cousins debate their choices, their family responsibilities, and the morality of their actions.
The narrative takes a mysterious turn when they realise that the perpetual darkness and their endless wandering signify a limbo state — they are already dead, having been struck by a truck during their escape. Ultimately, they find peace by symbolically letting go of their greed and reconnecting with their ancestors in the afterlife.
This project blends elements of suspense, drama, and philosophical exploration, creating a powerful tale about guilt, redemption, and the human condition. The story, rooted in true events, carries cultural and spiritual undertones, making it both intriguing and thought-provoking.
