This captivating production traces the evolution of South African music from 1950 to 2005, showcasing iconic genres such as kwela, the anthems of freedom songs, the infectious rhythms of bubblegum pop, and the vibrant energy of post-Apartheid beats. It features timeless songs by legends like Hugh Masekela, Spokes Mashiyane, Miriam Makeba, Dorothy Masuka, Mango Groove, Brenda Fassie, and Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

About the Artists
Nicole Joka is the owner and dance teacher at Prestige School of Dance. Her dance journey began at the tender age of five, and over the past 21 years, she has trained extensively in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Spanish Dance. Nicole holds major examinations in all her disciplines and is affiliated with the South African Body of Dance and the Royal Academy of Dance. In addition to teaching, she is also an experienced choreographer and performer, with a passion for creating meaningful and dynamic work across genres.
Based in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape, Prestige School of Dance is a vibrant, multi-genre dance studio offering training to students of all ages and abilities. With programs ranging from recreational to performance and examination-based training, the studio provides a nurturing space for dancers as young as three years old. With a diverse curriculum and a commitment to excellence, Prestige School of Dance cultivates both technical skill and artistic expression, inspiring students to grow confidently as dancers and performers.
