The story focuses on Kedibone having to pick between an oufit that she's comfortable in and one she is expected to wear because of her gender. While caught in the process of deciding, the echoes of the day she was sexually assaulted keep playing in her head. 

 

Through her vivid memory of the event, she is reminded of how her boss took advantage of her vulnerability, how the system failed her, and how those around her continue to insult her carry out insults wihtout remorse.

About the Artists

O’Lorato Masalesa born and bred in North West Mahikeng (Lomanyaneng village), is a former journalist, a poet and a PR practitioner. She is a film producer who has shared her talent with the world through her first experimental short film called Letter To Society which has been given recognition internationally by being selected at film festivals such as Shorts Film festival (Abuja, Nigeria), MUD House International Short Film Festival 2022 (India), Non Fungible Awards International Film Festival  2022 (India), National Arts Festival 2022 (Makhanda, South Africa), Thokoza Film Festival 2022 (Johannesburg, South Africa), Umgugundlovu Film Festival (Pietermaritzburg) 2022, and was recently selected at the Lift-Off Global Network  Film Festival 2023 (United Kingdom). She continued to do film screenings and film dialogues in 2024 of Letter To Society in various places such as NWU (Mahikeng Campus), Taletso TVET College ( Lehurutshe Cmapus), and partenring withother NGOs for GBV Awareness like Ambassadors4Change where she spoke more about behind the scenes and GBV in depth.

Her love for poetry and the arts led to her passion for multimedia, which started when she worked in local, provincial and international media houses, from Mafikeng Mail (Journalist), Mmega Dikgang (Journalist), Mafikeng FM as news analyst and BRICS Journal as an assistant Editor.  

She was the Publicity Manager for the Mona Lisa Production (2020), which is under Tshego Monaisa who is a writer and director of single diaries of a Jozi girl, and the short film Thavhazimbi.

Her first taste of film and working behind the scenes on a production, happened in 2016 when she coordinated for the late motswako Giant Jabulane ‘HHP’ Tsambo’s music  video called ‘Pasopa’, this was at the height of the ‘Fees Must Fall’ movement in 2016, led by youth in and around Mahikeng in support of the cause. In 2021 during lockdown, she participated in the Women Filmmakers Incubation Development programme called ‘HerStory’, through RatoMillion Media, NFVF and Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sports foundation. The programme was aimed at empowering and up-skilling talented women from rural backgrounds with a passion for filmmaking through the intensive 3months incubation. At the end of the programme all the participants were given a chance to produce, direct their short films that were based on Gender based Violence, she produced with her team members a short film called Sephiri Se tutetse and was one of the cast members of a short film called ‘Kago’.

She then ventured into directing, where she directed a phenomenal music video of one of the best produced motswako songs Mafoko A me  by Streetz featuring Blacklez, Nasi TauTona and Earth Kwakwe.  

Ms. O'Lorato Masalesa is now part of the National  100 days End GBV Challenge as a stakeholder with Taletso TvEt College and Ambassedor4Change.
