Weight in Waiting
Jacques Batista
Film

This screendance explores the individual's quest for answers to questions about love and longing. The story centres on a lonesome protagonist on the road to probe the Great Beyond on the great matter of loss and love. Weight in Waiting is a composite of body and landscape that utilises the Valley of Desolation and Stonefolk at Ongelukspoort outside Nieu-Bethesda as wilderness for the (in)sensibility of love. Movement and film converge choreographically to reveal a life upended from the weight of what to do when laden with love that has nowhere to go.
