Expectant Katushi follows the 'TRIBAL KATUNGA JOURNEY', for those chosen by the gods for a greater purpose. This is a journey the chosen one has to take every two decades, and is one of self-discovery, cultural exploration, and acceptance. When a mysterious old woman presents him with a worn leather bag, containing the tools for his path, Expectant Katushi is forced into a world of uncertainty and growth.
As he navigates the complexities of his condition, he must confront the expectations and doubts of his community, his family, and himself. With the support of his loved ones and the blessing of the king, he sets out to explore the world, to spread a message of unity and understanding, and to uncover the secrets of his destiny.
After he conquers the journey, he becomes 'the pregnant man', and is expected to return home and give birth to what he has carried throughout the journey (knowledge of other cultures and their norms and values).
Through a rich tapestry of traditional music, dance, and storytelling, Expectant Katushi weaves together themes of identity, culture, and self-acceptance, inviting audiences to reflect on their own journeys and the power of empathy and compassion.
