Nature is Louder
Visual Art / Rhodes Red Foyer

Nature is Louder Street Art project activates Makhanda's public space with collaborative and site-specific large scale public murals by a dynamic crew of Makhanda based artists led by Mook Lion.

The new murals will explore the intersection between history and site specificity through the lens of nature as the loudest voice in the end. This mural series will culminate with street art tours which will uncover the some of the processes and questions involved in the new murals as well as the burgeoning street art scene in Makhanda.

This project has been active in Makhanda since since the 2021 National Arts Festival.

There are three tours of Nature is Louder. The first two (28th June and 2nd July) are two hour walks, that are about 2km in length. While they are a very relaxed pace, please wear appropriate footwear.

The third tour (5th July) will be in a vehicle.

The meeting place for all three tours is Rhodes Theatre.

Find this mural on the corner of Dundas and Bathurst Streets.

  • Daily entry to the exhibitions is free. The scheduled walkabouts have a minimal cost and booking is essential.
