Makwerekwere, a derogatory term for foreigners in South Africa, is a beautiful, hard-hitting and highly energetic two hander play. It takes a closer look at the unrest that unfolded during the xenophobic attacks in 2008.
The production tells the stories of two degenerate characters who have to confront their past in order to find a way into the future. There are riveting moments that capture the anger, passion and perseverance displayed by these guys as they navigate the complex journeys of their lives.
Jozi and Murder are close friends and confidantes, who find solace in each other's company and deep rooted pain... unknown to both of them a secret hovers around them that will change their relationship forever.
