The DHS Jazz Combo under the direction of Natalie Rungan is a vibrant 17-piece student ensemble with a passion for South African and contemporary jazz. Their performances blend rich harmonies, intricate rhythms and soulful improvisation. With fresh energy and musical flair, they perform a compelling mix of traditional South African melodies with modern Jazz influences to captivate audiences in Makhanda this year.

The St Cyprian’s Jazz Band, led by Ross Johnson, has been active for over 12 years and has performed at events like the Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival and Under the Mountain Music Festival. Their programme encourages the exploration of jazz through ensemble work and improvisation. This year’s set features Big Band swing alongside works by South African composers such as Mike Campbell and Daryl Andrews.
