Bhayi Lam The Musical is inspired by the music of Sizwe Zako and Pure Magic, who set both the gospel and pop music scenes ablaze in the 1980’s. It follows Noluthando, a 35-year-old supermarket cashier who falls deeply in love with the charming but dangerous Mzimasi, a local barber by the day and a hired gun at night.  

While Noluthando sees him as a man striving for a better future, Mzimasi is entangled in crime, using his barbershop as a front for his illicit activities. As love and deception unfold, Noluthando finds herself caught in a difficult choice between loving a killer who makes her happy and a society he terrorises with his callous guns. Bhayi Lam The Musical is a tragic story that depicts an unending Black on Black violence.
