LitFest | Day Two | Can You Question God Without Losing Your Faith?
ECDSRAC
Literature / Olive Schreiner

Day two of the Eastern Cape Book Fair presents a compelling programme of dialogue that moves across faith, identity, culture, resilience, and inclusion, centred on lived experience and bold African literary voices that are reshaping how we think about identity, culture, and the world we live in.

We open the day with a deeply reflective conversation:

Can You Question God Without Losing Your Faith?

Featuring Nozibele Mayaba and Rorisang Thandekiso, this session draws from Nozibele Mayaba’s Let Me Tell You Something and Rorisang Thandekiso’s Disciple: Walking with God. Together, the authors explore faith under pressure, doubt as part of spiritual growth, healing, and what it means to keep walking with God through life’s hardest questions and challenges.

Rorisang Thandeka

Thandekiso was born in Bloemfontein and later raised in the Vaal, south of Johannesburg. In 2008, Rorisang was named Seventeen Magazine’s “Next Big Thing.” She was subsequently head-hunted to join the popular kid’s television program, YO TV. She went on to present shows like SABC 1’s “Mzansi Insider”, One Gospel’s “Women of Purpose” amongst many other television productions. You can now catch her on the brand new South African version of Wheel of Fortune on S3.

She studied International Relations at the University of Pretoria. One of the highlights of her studies was being a part of the Golden Key group that is made up of students in the top 15% of the university’s respective faculties. Rorisang has over the years grown to be one of the most sought-after MCs for corporate engagements like Momentum “She Owns Her Success”, and the prowess to connect well with community projects and government events like “Nasi Ispani” headed by the Gauteng Provincial government.

Rorisang is no stranger to the music space. She is a band member of the eclectic funky band Muzart who have performed on the most highly acclaimed stages such as Bush Fire Festival (Swaziland) and Cape Town Jazz Fest.

Rorisang has also managed to smoothly make a transition in to the world of radio. A journey beginning at online station Touch HD, then moving on to Metro FM and solidifying her versatility at Lesedi FM, which is a predominantly Sesotho speaking medium. She is currently back at Metro FM hosting “Command Your Day” every week day from 5am to 6am.

Another recent milestone is her establishment of the “Jesus This Jesus That” organisation, which aims to crusade through South Africa and spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the same platform, she hosts Bible Study every Thursday at 7PM on Instagram Live. There is still so much in store from this multi-talented, award winning go getter. So watch this space!
