About the Artists

Internet Athi is a Cape Town based independent artist emerging as one of the most compelling new voices in South Africa’s contemporary jazz and soul landscape. Blending South African jazz, folk, neo soul and R&B, his music is rooted in live instrumentation, emotional storytelling and rich collaborative musicianship, creating a sound that feels both intimate and expansive.

Following a warmly received appearance at The Black Power Station in Makhanda, Internet Athi returns to the National Arts Festival in 2026 carrying the momentum of his debut album Polymorphism, a striking and deeply personal body of work exploring love in all its forms: romance, grief, friendship, family and community. Released on 27 April 2026, the album marked a defining moment in his career, earning praise for its cinematic arrangements, lyrical
vulnerability and fearless approach to contemporary African soul music.

His breakout run of singles, Wena, Nguwe and Undithembisile, introduced audiences to a strikingly honest and emotionally resonant voice, organically amassing close to 3 million streams across platforms, more than 1 million Apple Music plays, and multiple editorial playlist placements. Just days after the release of Polymorphism, Internet Athi was announced as part of the 2026 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz programme, cementing his arrival as one of the
country’s most exciting new artists.

Backed by a dynamic live ensemble featuring drums, bass, keys, violin, flute and saxophone, Internet Athi has quickly become known for immersive performances that blur the line between concert, storytelling and communal experience. Between late 2025 and early 2026, he independently sold out multiple headline shows, momentum that has since expanded into a
growing national tour across South Africa.

Recorded and mixed at Concept Records and mastered by Sonic Nursery, Polymorphism positions Internet Athi at the forefront of a new generation of artists reshaping South African jazz and soul through sincerity, experimentation and emotional depth.

Beyond music, Internet Athi is also a published writer whose work has been featured at the Franschhoek Literary Festival and in Cover2Cover publications, a multidisciplinary approach to storytelling that continues to shape the lyrical intimacy of his artistry.

With Polymorphism, Internet Athi steps into a defining new chapter, establishing himself as a singular voice in South African music with a sound equally at home in intimate listening rooms and on major festival stages.
