Liminal
Prestige School of Dance
Dance & Physical Theatre / PJ'S

Liminal is a dance production that explores the space between 'what was' - the technical origins of dance, and 'what is becoming' - the fusion of interdisciplinary storytelling and performance.

Over time, dance has shifted from its roots in structured, technical forms to a more fluid, interdisciplinary art that blends with all forms of theatre, music, and multimedia, which often prioritises narrative and conceptual storytelling over the purity of movement. Liminal exists within this transitional space: a moment of reflection between tradition and transformation. While acknowledging the evolution of the art form, it returns to the foundational essence of dance, where technique, form, and physicality are the primary language. In this liminal state, Liminal reclaims the power of movement as absolute.

Built around the elements of dance - Space, Time, and Energy - Liminal draws from classical ballet, Horton technique, Afro-fusion, and contemporary dance. These techniques are honoured individually to reflect the return to the pure, non-interdisciplinary essence of dance.

Liminal celebrates pure movement - technical, visceral, and rooted in the heart of dance.
